wondering if there's way to get pc keyboard to work directly with pocket pc.

if not, what are the other best options? what do you guys use? trying to find best way to input text. i'd rather not get one of those fold up full size keyboards because of cost and future compatability.

I don't see anyway that a USB k/b can work w/ a PocketPC w/o rewiring the interface=way too much trouble-IMHO. As for the other best option, I'd like to hear one as I'd like a quicker way to input text on my iPAQ.

Yes, you sure can...but it depends on the PDA.

The Toshiba e550G has a USB port on it's USB cradle so you can plug in a USB keyboard while the PDA is in the cradle and get it to work (you can also plug in a mouse, but only one device at a time). The Casio E200 also has a USB port on it's USB cradle. The Toshiba e740 and Casio E200 can also support USB by adding a module to the bottom of the PDA itself. The NEC MobilePro P300 also has USB host support.

From what I've read, the Ipaq's cannot support USB devices. They have no host support, and apparently some hardware work would be needed to add this. There are no expansion modules availible either (I've looked for one for me).

Could you accomplish this with a PCMCIA card? I know you can get a PCMCIA card reader for the Ipaq, and PCMCIA USB cards are availible on the net.

Microsoft has a pocketPC remote control availible for download here, it could be used to share the PC's keyboard and mouse.

so as along as ppc has a usb host i can use usb keyboard directly. any usb keyboard? no drivers required for ppc 2002? just plug and go?

For the most part, yes. If it's some kind of weird USB keyboard though (like some of the Microsoft ones with all kinds of gadgets) or wireless, I'm not so sure.

NSF4-Are you sure about the mouse? Since PocketPCs don't have cursor support, how can a mouse be used? I've got a 550G but have never tried it.
