I'm fairly sure they will as all PSUs just turn power into DC, but I'd like confirmation of this before I buy any.

They will work fine ... the only change is the Input Voltage / Frequency coming from the Wall Socket
The output of the supply, as you said, is DC Voltage and will be at the normal +5V / +12V etc that
are on a US version of the power supply

The output voltages for a PC power supply are standard. More powerful supplies (in total watts) provide more current at the various voltages.

The difference between U.S. and European operation is the voltage from the mains. In the U.S. the standard wall voltage is 120 volts AC, usually @ 60 Hz. Most of Europe runs @ 230 volts AC @ either 50 or 60 Hz.

Many supplies have a selector slide switch for 120 volt or 230/240 volt operation and are rated to work @ 50 or 60 Hz. Check the specs for the supply you want to buy.

Ok, so every component is safe to import as long as I use a domestic UK PSU but what about software? I'm looking to set up a dual boot with vista and xp so I will need to buy another copy of xp on top of vista. I dont want to pay through the nose for a second copy of xp so if I buy one from outside the UK will it still work ok?
