do tv's have powersave

I have a sony 32in trinitron that I mainly use with my xbox in mediaplayer mediaplayer after 3 minuets on non use (ie no video playing) turns its display off. when this occurs is my tv still using lots of power or is it in power save mode. when I look at me TV when Media center goes into this mode it looks as if its off.
 
dunno whether its "power save" par se, but it probably consumes a lot less power. but as long as you can hear the whine its still consuming quite a bit
