I like using half and half to froth with, using a powerful steam wand on my espresso machine

It does the job, if the job is to create dishwasher soap-like foam. It won't get you a smooth, thick and sweet milk like this though. For that, you need something much more powerful, and espresso machines with big boilers and powerful steam wands are the best.

If so, how do you use it to make fancy drinks?

there are vibrating milk frothers, and there are Jiggling Milk Frothers (NSFW) :)

i stared at that for a while waiting for the jiggle...

hell, id have stared at those a while regardless.

I also stared at them waiting for them to start jiggling...then I realized, you have to move your mouse over them furiously to make the effect work...
