Do they still sell rechargable head and tail lights for bikes?

Iono, but have you tried just getting rechargable nimh D or C cells to go with the regular ones?

I've thought about it- I'm trying to avoid hacking everything I use though...
It's a good idea, but in this case I'd rather have it be a product for the purpose.

I'd love to find something on the solar lever, but so far I've only found stuff in Japan..

Quick answer is yes, they sell rechargable head lights. Haven't seen many rechargable tail lights.

They tend to be expensive. If you just want a little light so cars see you easier, buy one of those flashlight-type bike lights and separately buy rechargable batteries. If you want enough light to mountain bike at night at speed or to REALLY make sure cars see you, get an expensive HID or LED system. Those are really expensive, though. About the cheapest I've seen is $200 for HID at batteryspace. I've liked my light and motion HID, but it's serious money.

Good info, but a relatively inexpensive halogen system is good too. I have a 20W + 10W combo that works very well.

Yup. Good point. Halogens could be a better suggestion than mine, depending on OP's purpose and price point.

Halogens are cheaper than HID or high-powered LED, and will make you more visible to cars at night than a cheapo flashlight-type light. Enough light for riding on-road too, as long as you're not going too fast. They're rechargable and convenient.

However, for off-road riding, I find halogens not bright enough for me. I mountain bike at night in winter and do some 24-hour racing and wouldn't settle for that much (well, that little in this case) light. I also think that the more light the better if I'm riding streets after dark and want cars to know I'm there.

Good deal?

It's actually a high-power LED, I think, with a tail light in a combo package. If you order tonight before their 20% off coupon expires it's only $80!
