like they do in other countries so you can install into your phones and make local calls, thereby bypassing roaming charges.
 
There are pre-paid plans from Canadian wireless companies. As long as your phone is of the correct GSM band (shouldn't be a prroblem) then just buy the pre-paid sim card and pop it into your phone...
