The R34 GT-R skyline in comparison comes stock with the RB26DETT (a beefly V-6 with twin-turbos). The R34 would destroy a US spec G35 on the track any day of the week.

I highly doubt the US will bring the japan spec skyline over anytime soon. Motorex sells them used for mid to high 80k range, but in japan you can buy a brand new model from nissan for about 30-35k less! Subaru just did it with the STi, so lets hope Nissan follows suit...but im not getting my hopes up.

You aren't even comparing the same thing. GT-R to a lower model? The Skyline is the freaking 3 series of Japan. Why compare a 325i to an M3? Why don't I just compare the G35 to the base model R34 with it's 190HP I6...........

Goshn (sp?) already said the Next Nissan GT-R will be a worldwide model. The R34 never made it to the US cuz it was physically impossible to make the car left-hand drive.

Your right...but forgive me its early here and I just woke up. The slowest of the R34 series is the R34GT with the RB20DE motor (140hp), but thats still not even on par with the G35. In terms of horsepower...the GT-R as well as the 25Gt-t (RB25DET) are the closest compared to the US spec G35, for the both have around 270-280hp. This example would not even be similar to the M3 to 325ci example because of the 150hp difference between those 2 BMW models. In the G35's defense however, ive heard rumors that the 2005 G35 was coming with a optional AWD tranny...which would close the gap between it and the JDM skyline.

As far as HP numbers go...I can attest that the GT-R skyline with its high, but not insane hp numbers is a Track monster regardless of its rated 280-300hp. I own a E46 M3 and have raced a R34 GT-R on many occassions on track, and those things are fast and bettered me by a few seconds on each run. Im very impressed with them, and if the rumors are true that the G35 will be coming out with a AWD tranny, plus the existing turbo kits (greddy for one) that can be easily added to the G35, I wouldn't hesitate in purchacing one. Just gotta keep our fingers crossed.

Oh well then great! All the more reason to look forward to them. Do you know if the 350Z's are coming with that option also?

I don't think so. I am not even sure if the G35 coupe will have AWD. The sedan will have it to better compete with A4 Quattro and 330xi
