Do they have partitions in gym's showers or....

... is it a big group shower thing like they have in junior high?

In the future I would like to go to the gym to work out and lose weight but do not want to take showers in public unless they have partitions for privacy. The main reasons are:

1) I suffer from significant shrinkage even if the water is steaming hot.

2) I like to wash my butt crack with soap and water but would be uncomfortable having a bunch of men seeing my hands go between my butt crack as I'm showering.

Do most gyms have partitions in their shower room? If not, would most people look at you weird if you work out but go home to shower?

Depends. Before you join a gym, ask for a tour. They should show you the locker room.

Most of them do not have partitions. Generally, if you're going to take a shower you're going to have to take a group shower. I go to a smaller-size gym and the shower room is tiny. Maybe 3-4 people can fit in their at a time. I find this a bit discouraging, b/c I don't want someone to accidentally run into me with their schlong. Solution? I shower at home. It's no big deal. I like to wallow in my sweat anyways. :)

Everybody gets shrinkage, especially after a workout. I don't know why, i think because the blood is going to your muscle.

Do you laugh when other people get shrinkage? No, and most people won't think second thoughts if you have it.

As for #2, hehehe. That doesn't bother anybody either.

But anyways, depends on the gym really. The current gym i go to it's a single shower that people circle around. I've been to gyms with stalls though as well.

The reason why i don't use the showers that much at the gym is normally because i don't want to get athlete's foot. I'm too lazy to bring slippers with me. Only time i do is if i'm going somewhere other than home or a friend's home (where i can take a shower) right after a workout.

I used to go to the YMCA and there were no partitions. I always just waited to shower at home.

And then there are the 75 year old wrinkly bastards who flaunt it like they're 23 year old studmuffins. If they can do it, anyone can do it.

My University gym has partitions. Thank god, because their are alot of guys (alumni I guess) like Scrapster mentioned. Gross. Of course, they walk around the entire locker room naked, but at least I don't have to watch them lather up. *shudders*

If its anything like the womens showers, then your fellow gym dwellers are too busy worrying about how they look to be bothered about how you look :)

LOL, yep...

I remember all these ugly bastages running around with their arms swaing back and forth, acting like they are the center of attention because they have a "great body"...thing is, these guys usually have miniature winkies and semi-guts. I have to hold back a laugh every time I see one come out of the shower, proudly.

Hahahahahahahahahahaa....

Now, as for the Woman's locker room...well, all I ask for is PICS, DAMMIT! ;)

I shower at home after I workout. I don't see why anyone would think that was weird. Besides, it's kind of nasty in the locker room. All the toilets are in there also. So you've got a moist, steamy environment and guys taking craps. Not the most pleasant place.

lol, Stormrider...once again keepin' it real.

If it bothers you just go home and shower, I mean what, are the gym guys gonna make fun of you for showering at home? When I work out at the skool, I usually shower after i'm done, but by the time I get home I usually shower again anyways because I usually don't take the time to "lather up" at public showers.

No partitions...

But there are a bunch of fat, naked, old, men!

Imagine what the women's locker room looks like!

YUK!

That is so true too! And especially if you go to the hardcore bodybuilding gyms that i do, you'll know how stinky your dumps can get when you're on a high protein diet, especially from all those whey protein drinks. I've seen people literally rush out of the changeroom half naked because of the stench.

ahh yes, fitness club showers...

I worked at a local chain gym for 6 or 7 months last year (we had no partitiions) and I tell ya, the showers at those places can be scary!
And not cause the showers are dirty either.

...walk in there to do a routine employee check of the locker room and find a 70 year old man, 35 pounds overweight, standing in front of the full length mirror, buck naked, flexing and checking out his own butt...

I think I called off sick the next day...

I belong to balleys here... and i don't take a shower cause i don't have to. I can just go home and take a shower and not be bothered by the old men. Because really, that's pretty much 70% of the people you find at gyms. It depends where you are though.

btw, your post is really unneeded.

Okay I think that if I ever go to a gym to work out, I will go home to take my shower. And if anybody asks, I'll just say I am afraid of getting athletes foot (which did happened a lot when I had to take showers in junior high).

Yeah, that's not abnormal. I would say only half of the people take a shower at the gym. Personally, it's a pain to have to bring soap, shampoo, change of clothes, lock, slippers just to go to the gym. I go there in a pair of shorts and tank top, and leave with just that.

Umm if you hang out in a mens shower room looking at guys junk you must be gay.If some guy was checking me out I would say "WTF you lookin at?".So the moral is if you don't go to a gym with gay men you should have nothing to worry about.
