There was just one reviewed on the main page that the reviewer mentioned had a pretty short throw.

The shortest mech switch are the Logitechs that they use in the G910. It's also quieter than an o-ring'd MX. Having used one, I quite like it. They keys have a different mold pattern that hugs your finger tips and it is pretty darn quiet.

What the OP wants is a scissor switch keyboard. Doing a search on Amazon gave a few hits like the K7100 or a Kensington model for around $20.

That's a dome switch not mechanical, ie. scissor mechanism around a dome.

You could also buy a mechanical kb and put donuts on the switches to limit the travel. I have a mech kb at home and a Logitech 520 chicklet kb at work. Not just key travel, but shape impact the experience. Finally my work notebook is a Lenovo t430, which is one of the better keyboards, though I wish it was backlit

Razer just released a new rgb chicklet kb, thigh it's expensive and gets mixed reviews for quality and reliability.

I really like the short throw on my Logitech g910 which makes typing easier for me.
