I developed carpel tunnel a couple of years ago from baseball and it bothers me from time to time, i was wondering if they designed any mice I could look at to make computer activities easier.

new natural 6000 microsoft mouse might work

both hands?

my tennis grip sucked and so i use two mice now to keep hand from getting strained. i use both hands now pretty well, its not that hard to learn really. can't do wasd fps using non dominant hand on mouse though because thats two hand coordination and makes my mind go:confused:

changing grip so its more like using that ms natural mouse even on a normal mouse might help as well.

I went through that a few years ago, and my cure was to reduce mouse usage completely and use a Wacom pad - holding the stylus like a pencil is relaxing and actually more accurate than a mouse.

Today I use a Wacom Graphire which has a wireless mouse that works on the tablet. I use it for macro moves and detailed stuff - the stylus. No more pain! :)

I've been wondering for a while now if I have carpel tunnel or not. I can hardly use the cheap-o mice that do not conform to you hand, my fingers start to feel itchy at the joins and will eventually get sore but no problems with my wrists what-so-ever. Balling my fist up (without using any mussels) for a few minutes clears it up, laying my hand on a flat surface with my fingers stretched out makes it worse. I think it started 2 years ago after a welding job that involved tightly gripping a GMAW/MIG gun (looks more like a garden hose, press trigger and make sparky sparky) for long hours. Very rare to experience any problems with anything but a mouse (sometimes when tightly gripping a hobby knife).

So anyone know if this is indeed carpel tunnel? And yes, if it becomes worse i will go see a doctor.

I currently use the MX 5000 laser mouse and can play video games for several hours without problems, if i touch another mouse i'm screwed in 10 minutes. Tried the natural 6000 one at a store, its even better, for me at least it doesn't force my fingers to straighten out at all. It looks like a ball and that is basically what it is, i'm seriously thinking about replacing my MX5000 with it.

To be honest i know next to nothing about carpel tunnel, and was hoping it was more clear cut. But anyway, the natural 6000 is one of the most comfortable mice i've tried, cordless, and one of the most oddest with it's ball like shape.

I would suggest dropping down to a electronics store that has mice on display so you can get a feel for yourself, you can't really tell how good a mouse will be until you try it,, One thing i've noticed for example is that i have always wanted bigger mice that are about the size of my palm while i often hear others complain about how big mice are getting, and i still think mice today are too small.

I liked the idea of this mouse as well and thought it was comfortable when I went and tried it out. The only downside that kept me from buying it was that it's not rechargeable. I hate that about it. Maybe MS will make an update with a base charger station like the Wireless 8000 mouse.
