If you have an LCD they're unneccesary IMO.

I agree with the previous poster, they don't do much. But I have no way of knowing this, this is just my subjective opinion.
 
yeah i have a CRT and i use the computer alot.. i dont have money to spend on a LCD so i was wondering if this was a solution.. i had one like 3 years back and it was basically like putting sunglasses on a monitor =T
 
if the sun shines on your monitor or something, then anti glare filters are great, otherwise, not really usefull. I had one on an ond NEC 15inch moniter I used to use in a bright room, and it helped a bit, however, If it didn't come with the monitor for free when I bought it (used) ... I wouldn't have spent more than $5 for one ...
