Do these cards use the same Vista Catalyst drivers?

I recently switched to an ATI X1950 Pro AGP card, and I need to know if this card uses the same 7.4 (i think) Catalyst drivers from ATI. Vista has a requirement that 2 cards must use the same driver version.

I know that the X1300 PCI card does, but I am trying to do this on the cheap!! Also, some models of the 9250 only support DX9-- would this affect running video on that screen?

Thanks gents! 😀

Hardly. The 9250 is DirectX 8.1 hardware, driver support even in XP has been cut off by ATI with Catalyst 6.8 or somesuch.

Are you sure about this for Vista, though? Checking the ATI website, the 9xxx series is listed under Vista 32-bit drivers, and links to Catalyst 7.4. Confusing...

that would be fore the 95xx,96xx, 9700, and 9800 series cards...the 9000 and 92xx series only have the microsoft driver availible, and they only use the DX8.1 mode.

as for the OP, yes the X1950pro does use the 7.4's...they run very well with them...I know, I have one and I'm running vista.

The 9500 and up are DirectX 9 cards and have Vista support. The Radeon 9200 and below are rebadged DirectX 8 parts and no longer have driver support.
