I've looked at the Fatality, Elite and XtremeMusic and can't find the digital out. Am I missing something?

The Fatality, Platinum and Elite models all have optical and electrical digital in and out.

The Xtreme music only has the electrical mini plug on the back of the card.

Yep its hidden as a mini-plug. You'll need a miniplug to digital coax (so the RCA looking coax, not the coax that cable tv comes through) cable.

The Elite or whatever the highest end version has a large breakout box that has all kinds of input/output stuff. In a way, I was kinda thinking that the internal box that comes with the Platinum and Fatil1ty versions has an optical out port, but I'm probably mistaken.

I have a fatality and the drive bay expansion has coax in out, optical in out midi in out and rca in and a line / mic in and a headphone socket.

As far as I'm aware the Platinum is the same.

Thanks guys, but I left something out. Is the mini jack digital out on the actual card? That's what I'm really looking for. For instance, in this shot. Is the digital out the far left jack?

Yep, you'll need a Turtle Beach or Auzentech X-mytique or X-plosion if you want true digital surround. Plus, those cards can encode dynamic DDL for games and the X-plosion does DTS as well. Creative cards only do passthrough, so stuff like DVD movies with the info already on the disc will work but nothing else.

Course, I'll probably get shot down again for suggesting this. I'll be called uneducated or a noob or something for not suggesting a Creative X-fi, which we all know are the utmost best. They increase FPS by a billion over the next competitor and give you unparalleled bloatware.

The X-fi does "True" surround sound of pre-encoded material such as a DVD movie as you said. However, the analog output is VERY good and surpasses the quality of the best DDL or DTS interactive encoder. So if you have a computer speaker system, get the X-fi.

It should be the far left jack like in the other creative cards, yes.
