Jeans will shrink a little bit after the first wash. However, they should not have gone from comfortable to very tight after one wash.

yes. don't wash them in hot water. wash them in luke warm or cool water, max. 30 degrees. you can tumble dry at a low temperature or hang to dry.

Yes, but they stretch right out when you wear them.

Over time, jeans seem to me to get a bit tighter with each wash, but it could be operator issues.
