Do the Intel Duo's/Quad's need...

Since I am new to Intel Duo's, and since I was using an X2 4400+ before it, I am now wondering if WindowsXP-KB896256-v4 has to be installed just like it was strongly advised to do so with AMD dual-cores. The update, from what I know, adds a /usepmtimer switch to the Windows BOOT.ini file, amongst perhaps other changes that I am not aware of. And that's for Windows XP of course.

So, do the Intel dual-cores need that?

No, they don't require it.


edit: It won't hurt anything to try it, though; it's reversible.
