Do the Cellermines work on LX chipsets? My buddy has an Abit LX6

I asked the same question, apparently the LX's voltage is too high for the cel2, but it supports celeron.

I would really doubt it, can't imagine Abit would release a BIOS update for a board that old. Though the board has 100Mhz FSB, seems like you'll never have voltages low enough for a Coppermine, much less compliant with VRM 8.4 or whatever it is Coppermines want.

The board doesn't have 1/3 PCI or 2/3 AGP, so 100MHz FSB is useless anyway. It probably doesn't, no. Get a Duron for a cheap fast system, a Cumine cB0 for overclocking, or a tbird for garunteed high performance at a reasonable cost.

If you're not planning to overclock, yes they will work on the later revisions of LX boards. I have a stack of $25 Tekrams that work just fine with them, and even correctly identify the speed and voltage.

Russ , Ever tried them on an abit LX6?

My Friend does not have a very big budget and he only has PC66 ram and an old power supply. I think a Celermine 700 at 83 bus(872mhz) and a Geforce 2 MX would keep him going for another six - nine months.

Nope. But, if it's a late revision PCB, there is no reason why it wouldn't work. The VRM's on the later revisions all support 1.3v to 3.5v core. The CPU's run at 66Mhz, so that's not an issue. The multiplier capability of the board is irrelevant because the processors are locked.
