...to the system? i'm going to mount the 3 extra USB ports onto a spare 5 1/4 face plate at the front of my case. so will it be ok if the ports aren't grounded to the case?
 
Assuming you are using prewired ports and plugging them directly into the motherboard, they are already self grounded.
