Or do they fit most cases as a normal harddrive would... the reason I ask I was looking at them and Amazon was recommended some kind of sleeve for the SSD to sit in.

SSDs come (mainly) in 2.5" form-factors, while traditional hard drives are 3.5" Newer cases will often have 2.5" mounting bays built in. If your case does not, then you will need a 2.5"-to-3.5" bracket. Some of these brackets can mount 2 2.5" drives in 1 3.5 bay. An SSD that comes with a "desktop kit" will usually including a Sata cable and 3.5" bracket. Bare-bones and OEM drives will not. It's probably cheaper to buy an OEM drive and buy the bracket (about $5) separately, rather than pay for the kit.

Kit vs Bare bones

There are also laptop kits that include spacers for drive height.

Some users simply used double sided tape or velcro to attach their SSD drive inside their case since they have no moving parts.

SSD are very light in weight and no moving parts. One screw can how it in place, you don't need adapters.

I put my SSD onto a regular HDD bay, no screws or anything, just lying as if on a shelf. Unless you frequently move your PC around there's really no point in attaching the drive to anything. The rigidity of SATA cables means it stays stationary anyway.

Quite a few modern cases these days are coming equipped with 2.5" mounting with standard 3.5" HDD bays, Fractal Design cases are a good example of this. As others have mentioned depending on the SSD some come with tape or other means in order to secure the drive. You can always purchase additional adapters in order to accommodate the SSD, such as 5.25" bay adapters 3.5" bay adapters and some stand alone adapters, which are more difficult to find it seems.

My 300R case had dual purpose drive trays. If you have a modern case, I suspect it'll work with 2.5". Though you probably want to read the case specs to be sure.
