well i took my speakers home to my brother since he needed them, then when i came back to school, on my first boot windows was recognizing a new PCI multimedia device. i am confused about this one... everything has been working fine for a month now, no hiccups or anything, but now for some reason my soundcard de-installed itself (creatice PCI512) Anyone know why this might happen? probably just coincidence but it kind of urks me... especially since creatives driver support for this card sucks. it takes me like 500 tries to finally get them installed right (actually its probably winME). i dual boot win2k and the drivers there got f-ed up too. and of course windows always finds the drivers when searching for them (HA! what a joke that is... dont we all hate how window's idea of a search is so lazy "la la la i think i will just take a little perusal through this one folder... hmmm nope nothing here, guess there arent any drivers") well if anyone knows how i might prevent this, thanks in advance

Just put those driver files in it's own folder in the windows directory, and install those drivers yourself. By that, I mean go to install them, and go to the part to where it asks if you want to display a list of drivers in a specific place, then point it to that folder. It should look there everytime then, and hopefully work correctly.

Removing the speaker wires from the back of th soundcard probably moved the card just enough to reset it. Just re-install it.
