No idea, the local Best Buy has stopped carrying them until the issue is resolved.

I don't know but the person above is probably right that Sony won't be fixing the problem for a while. They know Americans are the worst consumers every and they will buy crap even if it has manufacturing problems. This is the exact reason I don't buy Sony stuff anymore because I got burned on a laptop from them.

Back at the dawn of the PII days, we got a Vaio 266. Worst computer ever. Worse than the beige box 486 I had before it. Vowed never to buy or recommend another sony product. Still haven't. The only sony things bought by my family since then were a TV and a DVD player, both of which are...okay.

Still, every Sony laptop I've touched has had a worse build quality than dell.

(I  my pre-merger compaq laptop)

I've never, ever had a single problem with a Sony problem and I've owned loads of different electronics. I've always been happy. IMO, Sony products have the best design, best menus, and best remotes.

My dad swears by Sony, but then again, that was back in the 80s when their quality was a whole lot better. Now, its crap. Havn't bought a Sony product for years.

Sometimes I am forced to buy some Sony products (undr $50 though) but I have always had terrible luck with them. So it was not only my laptop which was total crap (and it was $2500 too) but it seems everything I buy that says Sony on it has fallen appart. Hell, even my alarm clock and my mother's is screwed up. There is the button which turns the alarm off and it has failed in both and they are not even the same models. Anyway, will stay away from ever buying a Sony HDTV or anything expensive from them.

I just got mine in the mail (thanks freepsps.com)

In the initial 30 minute test I haven't found any dead pixels.

PS2s die like crazy. Everyone I know that has one is working on their second one because the first one crapped on them.

I have 3 dead pix on mine (2 you can see in total darkeness and 1 the is dead black) and they are soooo damn small you really have to look for them even to be a bother. If you dont let it mull in your head looking for a needle point of a pix its really no biggie. For what the unit does I wont bitch at all and cant live without it now after having it.
