Do some/most/all/none DVD players play .mpgs?

I'm finally ready to get a DVD player and I see that several of them playback CD-R/RWs. But what type of files do they playback besides .mp3?

How do DVD players display files that are on a CD-R/RW?

Through VCD format. You can burn them through Nero.

If a DVD player can play .mp3s how does it display the tracks or your CD-R? Does it use proprietary software to read the mp3 tags and display them on your tv screen?

mpgs ? Are we speaking about mpeg2 files, or mpeg1 files? Vcd uses mpeg1, while Svcd and DVDs use mpeg2 files.

I own an apex, it shows the mp3 files and the folder. IMHO, its best just to place all the mp3 files in teh same folder, alot easier to use that way.
