Do some cordless phones have a jack to connect to your PC's modem?

Wow! That would be cool. A jack in the handset of a cordless phone?

I've yet to see it. What I've used is this gizmo that I found at Target for $40 that plugs into an electrical outlet. Plug in your phone or modem and the signal is sent to a phone jack in the house where another gizmo is plugged in.

Works a lot like HomePNA, but for phones.

I have often wondered about this also. Of course now I have broadband and don't care anymore. 😛

I've never seen it. Who knows? I think because the digital compression of voice can cut a lot of the signal a modem uses to pass data (between handset/base)... thus you'd loose a lot of your 'bandwidth'. Just speculation, I'm not an expert. Wouldn't surprise me if one existed, I'm sure it's possible, I just haven't seen it.

How about instead making something to use a Cell phone. I like a lot of people have unlimited weeknights and weekends.

But as someone else added, I also have broadband.

Bumping an old thread, got an adv. today from MCMElectronics. Has a device on it 'RCA Shark Wireless 900MHz Modem'. Price is $17.95 for the pair (transmitter/receiver). Posted in hot deals, but, figured it may be helpful here too if anyones still looking for something like this. I have no idea how well it works, but, sounds decent enough.

Item Link (no description)

Competitor w/ item description and higher price

Excuse my typing: The add says: "The shark brings the freedom of wireless to the world of computing. 900MHz digital spectrum technology provides secure data connection throughout the entire home. Transmits data at speeds up to 115Kbps. Provide file sharing link for two computers. 56K Duplex modem, v.90 compatible. Serial port RS-232 and PS/2 connections for easy hookup. Provides full duplex asynchronous data communication. Includes: Two DC Power adapters, 3'RS-232 cable, 6' RJ-11 phone cord, mini-din/dc jack w/ 2 PS/2 connectors for extension connection, and 3.5" floppy disk containing setup drivers. "

I wonder how much he pays for his wireless plan...I've heard that data transfer with the phone is sometimes charged at a lesser rate.
