Do slip on shoes stay planted in the heel?

I ordered a pair of slip on shoes online (I know I know) and being that it is my first pair I'm not familiar with the proper fit. Did I get them too big or do all slip on shoes by their very nature fit more like sandals with a less stable heel?

In slip-on boots some heel slippage is to be expected and is desired when the boot is new. I would assume the same is true for a slip-on shoe. It is normally caused by the stiffness that is present in the sole before it has been broken in by wear. Probably if you keep going down in size until the slippage disappears your toes will be crammed in the end and they'll kill your feet.
