Do Side blow holes make alot of noise??

My XP1800 is running too hot. I have a 120mm panaflo L1A on the way and was thinking of cutting a blow hole on the side panel facing the CPU.
I have a baybus so I could even run the fan at half speed. I'm not so worried about the noise from the Panaflo, as much as the noise escaping from the inside of my case.
I'm using a Volcano 6cu heatsink with a 60mm Sunon fan. It's quieter that the screamer that came on there.
Does anyone have a large blow hole placed in the side? How much noise escapes. I'm trying to keep it quiet.
I have 2 quiet case fans already in use, and a HD cooler in a 5.5" bay.
Thanks.

So you want a 120mm intake right next to your CPU HSF... I don't think the noise from a 120mm Panaflo L1 should be too great. Heck, run it at 7V if its still too loud. The noise "escaping" from that little hole is not anything to worry about. If you really want to cut down on noise, consider a noise-dampening solution such as Sonex foam or tar based products like www.b-quiet.com and Dynamat.

I have read that for the cost and time involved. that the Dynamat route is not worth it. Plus I'm trying to find some solutions that I can use without tearing everything back out of my case. I was going to but the blow hole on top, but that would require removing everything so I wanted to try the side.
