Do SFF barebones need a special heatsink/fan? or not?

Just wondering, with these barebones systems like the Shuttle XPC, do I use the heatsink it comes with? (if it even comes with one) Or can I just buy an AthlonXP and use that heatsink the retail box comes with? Will it fit in the Shuttle case?

I just thought of this because reviews of a certain barebones system talked about the cheap thermal paste it came with.. and I was wondering why a barebones system would come with thermal paste? Does it come with a special heatsink that is meant to fit perfectly in the case?

Thanks.

The come with HSF designed for fit and function in the small case invironment. Many aftermarket HSF's wont even fit in them.

So basically, I'll buy the Prescott P4 3.0GHz retail, throw out the HSF, and get some Arctic Silver 5.. and use the HSF that comes with the Shuttle PC.

LOL. Do not put a prescott into that. It will run at 100C. Prescotts suck a$$ do not get one. Anything but that please.

EDIT: It looks like thats your only option. Prescotts absolute suck but if you put AS5 on it, it might be aight.
