Do set-top DVD Recorders record in 16:9

so? just wondering. I've been reading about a lot of them online, can't seem to find any info about it.

I would imagine yes, it would record the picture just like an anamorphic DVD. So the picture would be all out of proportion when viewed on a 4:3 screen.

Will a set-top DVD recorder even record from another DVD? I'd think the copy protection would prevent that.

depends on if the DVD is encrypted....but you can also get widescreen from an HD feed, or from a camcorder....I want to buy one, but not if it's going to hardcode black bars into my widescreen sources.

doubt it. all the ones i've seen are mostly for recording normal tv. single layer dvd barely has the capacity to do that right😛 2hrs max.. other settings are joke. that being said they are dirt cheap now. 120dollars or so for the liteon at costco😛 not bad😛
