If I had a spare or two SD card in my wallet or pocket, will it set off security? Anyone know for sure?

They're almost all plastic minus the gold contacts. Think about it this way, earrings usually don't set the detectors off.

I would think it depends on the airport too. My watch and my belt set off the metal detector at LGA's marine terminal, but they don't do that at Midway.

Though, I would think an SD card would be fine. If it sets it off, just throw the wallet through the X-ray machine and walk through the detector again.

Isn't a wallet supposed to go in the little plastic bowl anyway? The last time I flied over 10 years ago it did.

I've never put my wallet through the xray machine. I'd be afraid of someone snatching it at the other end, while I'm hopping around trying to put my uber-dangerous shoes back on.

Can't say that the SD cards would set off the machine. I doubt it, though, but like it's already been said, it depends on the airport. Last time I flew from here, I forgot to take my belt off, and the combination of my glasses frames and the belt buckle didn't set it off. Sometimes they crank the sensitivity way up, and pretty much no one gets through without setting it off.

Make sure you take off your watch (if it's metal) and empty your pockets of other metal items (nail clippers, loose change....not supposed to set it off, but why take the chance?.....keys, etc). Then you'll barely have any metal on you, and you're sure to sail through.

Now if they'd only get the rest of the people going through security to figure that out......

should be ok, I've had watches and stuff go through ok, and they have a lot more metal.

Will it set off security? I'd find it to be a bit odd, but no. You'd have to do something really odd to do that. The cards should make it through the metal detector, but just leave them in your bag and send them through the x-ray machine, they won't be harmed.
