I was at burlington coat factory. i saw a suit that i liked.
I wear size 40R for my suit. but all the pants are size 34. I have a 30" waist.
WTF? what if you're skinner/fatter than a 34waist?

All suits through 46 come with trousers that are 6" less. So, a 42R will come with a 36" trouser. 48 and up come with a 5" difference.
This is universal.

That's not true. For the most part that is accurate, however you can find European and athletic cut suits that the drop can be 7" or 8" even.
What you do it get ones that fit as closely as you can and have a tailor alter them to fit you.
Normal alterations are free if you buy the suit in a place like Nordstroms.Originally posted by: cavemanmoron
Go to Boscov's
tell the person in the Mens dept, you need a "seperate's" suit.
it will cost about $25. extra but,you can get pants and jacket seperate, and in the sizes you want.
I wear a 50-52 jacket, but ,did not need the extra Fat pants that go with that
size Jacket.
Nice looking suit too.

I need a 46" jacket and have a 32/22" waist. They can't just take the pants in because the back pockets would overlap at the seam, so they essentially cut the pants apart along the inseam and outerseam and build new pants from the original. It's pretty amazing to me because I can't really tell that the pants have been altered.
As anonymouschris points out, one could also have the suits tailor made... I but I've only owned three suits in my life, and I'm just not at that point where it seems necessary to have them made.
I'm not sure any of this is relevant to a conversation that starts with a suit at the Burlington Coat Factory.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
