Do robotic vacuums work?

They seems to get stuck in corners a lot. Most people find them very cool in the beginning, but end up hating it withing a couple of weeks.
 
I've been considering one for dog hair, (3 dogs, lots of fine hair getting shed), (hardware floors)
Normal traffic of people walking through creates enough of a breeze though that 90% of the hair ends up behind things and in corners. The robot wouldn't reach it.
