Do Retail Box Intel CPU's Still Come Shrink-wrapped ?

Newegg claims they don't.

Intel's support reps say they do. I gotta believe the Intel people, as they tried very hard to get me to name the vendor from whom I purchased the CPU.

All the boxed Intel processors I've got over the past year+ have no longer been shrink-wrapped. They've come in a cardboard box wirh "zip open" strips on each end flap and each end flap has bee sealed with a hologram sticker.

So what is the deal here? If the Intel rep says they should all come wrapped, then is the rep full 'o shat or is there a problem here? 😕 Could this be a difference in how the packaging plants do things? Intel employees please stand up, please stand up....

recently I have purchased 1 retail boxed pentium 4 cpus and 1 retail pentium M cpu and they both came with NO shrinkwrap, but the boxes were clearly sealed.
the way they seal the box, if its tampered with its obvious.
The old boxes could be opened with a heat gun and re shrink wrapped, to the unwitting buyer, they may be much easily fooled. I'm glad they changed it.
