Question Do "regular" VGA only monitors suffer burn in more than fancier monitors?

I've got a ViewSonic VA1917A 19 Inch LED Monitor bought in Jan 2016. It is a plain jane VGA input only monitor. It has 1366x768 resolution and is used on a 2nd computer for security cam monitoring, Youtube watching, and mp4 movie watching. The tabs on the browser seem to do a partial burn in.

I've got a 'fancy' Acer B326HK 32-inch UHD 4K2K monitor bought in Apr 2015. It has the multiple inputs, etc and is 3840 x 2160 resolution. It is used on my 'gaming' computer but sees significant web browsing and a lot of my gaming is windowed with the web browser visible. It gets probably 20%-30% more use per day than the other monitor. Zero burn in.

Is it the fact that the ViewSonic is just low quality and thus suffering burn in? Or does VGA have an issue?

If the "partial burn-in" goes away after 15+ minutes, it's not really burn-in but temporary image retention, which affects many LCD panels. Quality and/or the specific LCD tech used is likely a factor here. I have some LG 4k monitors from 2018 that do it badly, and some expensive 4k160hz LG gaming monitors that don't have it at all.

It's also nothing to worry about besides the annoyance.

The input signal has nothing to do with the hardware the monitor uses to display content.

As a side note, in my experience it's possible to reverse burn-in with LCD screens by having the screen display an entirely white output at full brightness for a bit.

I had a Viewsonic VP191B that cost $449 and just hated it. Everyone raved about the color accuracy but the pixels were noticeably sluggish leaving a trail behind the mouse or anything moving on the screen. LCDs can't technically get burn in but that display looked like it had burn in. Worst monitor I ever had and far from the cheapest.

Agree with others that VGA is not the issue, the panel is.

Guessing they nearly give away 19 inch monitors these days, get a new one if it bothers you.

Makes sense... @Hail The Brain Slug it is as you describe. Maybe a minute of image retention. The monitor was cheap($80)

I was just starting to have PTST flashbacks of CGA and EGA CRTs burning it badly :p
