Do rabbits make good pets?

Phokus

I want a pet, but i want something low maintenence so dogs and cats are out of the question. But i don't want something boring like goldfish. How are rabbits as pets, is it a lot of work raising them?

Rabbits are Big Snake Food. Really. Rabbits are just oversize rodents. Big rabbits are called "Nutrinas" Well, not really, but in the rodent chain we have:

Mice
Rats
Rabbits
Nutrina

Cats are more low maintenence than rabbits.. and less smelly and destructive.. Rabbits are also boring.

Cats don't need to be walked.. all youll have to do is feed them and change their litter box every couple of days and they are affectionate and playful.

Rabbits you have to do the same, plus they get smelly, and they will chew through wires if you let them roam, and they arent very playful. I've had 2 rabbits before.. never again..

Edit: Also cats are fairly independent. If you have to go away for a few days you could just leave out enough food and water for the days youll be away and the cat would be just fine.

they make good pets if you keep them in a closed area of the back yard. They are fun to play with.

Yep...especially if there's two of them. Rabbits are extremely territorial and mark their territory by sh!tting or pissing all over. Result: your place smells like a pet store.

Second, they love to chew on things, especially wires...I lost 3 N64 controllers this way a while back, and I almost electrocuted myself when I touched a bare spot on a chewed open power cord.

I hate rabbits. They're only good for stew.

Rabbits stink. Rabbits chew on _everything_. Rabbits are messy (even though they can be litter-trained, they still fling stuff well beyond the litter area). Rabbits bite.

If I had any say in the matter, my sister's rabbit would be turned into a pair of gloves.

Rabbits suck man. I've had one. I just spent like 90$ for it and stuff, but I gave it away for 10$ in desperation to get rid of it.

I'd go with the aquarium, which can be cool depending on what type it is. I'd suggest a nano reef aquarium like these... http://www.oc-creative.com/reef/

Oh, and we had one of those floppy eared rabbits as kids. They are poop machines.

Edit: I think they make good pets, but I had to train my two rabbits to go in a litterbox rather than all over everything. I also didn't let them run around my house, because they'd have pooped and peed all over everything, not to mention chewed up a lot of stuff. Basically if you're looking for something low maintenance, I'd say get some fish or something...most animals require active looking-after.

low maintenance? haha.. if you neglect em maybe. or if you live in the country and let em roam. otherwise they are amazing sh*t and piss machines with no control the fact that they'll sh*t and piss on you and your stuff if you let em roam the house takes all the fun out of it. you become the official sh*t and piss cleanup machine. their cages stink bad. and well, they are dumb as rocks. a cat would be lower maintenance.

Cats are really low maintenence, I sometimes don't seem mine for days if she's sulking.

Rabbits can be low maintenence too but you need to spend some time training them. You can actually train them to use a litter box just like a cat does and let it roam the house, though it's not instinctive so you need to spend some time with it. Plus they require attention just like dogs, if you leave it alone all day and not spend time playing with it it may lead to stress related problems. A cat on the otherhand generally doesn't care if you are there or not, if you are home it may decide to grace you with it's presence, as long as there is food and water and the litterbox is clean they are happy.

And they don't actually eat their poop, they are eating cecotropes which contain bateria and nutrients that they need and are different from their fecal pellets.

wow rabbits could be trained?
I've owned 3 before, I just let them run around my backyard.
They just eat grass all day and the males just try to attack each other, until one died.
The first day, one male's penis got bit off.
I think the rabbit that bit it off had rabies, everytime it saw me, it would bite onto my leg, and I would shake until it flew off along with a piece of my pants 🙁.
One day I was wearing shorts outside(not smart), and it gave me this big ass scratch on my leg, 3" long and almost a half a cm deep!

rabbits don't make pets, they make cute furry animals to look at...
