Taco Bell isn't real Mexican food. Not even close. I don't think it's even Tex Mex. A lot of cities don't have real Mexican or even Tex Mex food. I feel sorry for those people who don't know what they're missing. 😀

Oh, and tacos are definitely Mexican, but I think burritos are Tex Mex. I'll ask.

Edit: And oh yeah, the Puerto Rican food I've had is little like what people generally think of as Mexican food. I think it was more like Cuban...

First of all, the smell absolutely kills me. I can't STAND the smell of mexican food. If my GF eats something from Taco Bell, I won't kiss her until she brushes her teeth. And the not eating at Taco Bell thing goes back about 15-16 years or so. My dad was the president of the Elementary school PTA and he went around to the different fast food restaraunts to get coupons for the kids who did well in school.

McDonalds gave like 100 coupons for free hamburgers and fries
Wendys gave 75 coupons for free Frosties and a small fry
Burger King gave I think 80 coupons for burgers or something
Pizza Hut gave 50 coupons for 1 free personal pan pizza
Taco Bell said we ain't givin' you anything

My dad said he'd never eat a Taco Bell...EVER. I pretty much boycotted them along with him 😛

I find it more shocking that you equate Taco Bell with Mexican food, than the fact that you say you've never eaten Mexican food.

Go to an authentic Mexican taqueria, and try something there.

I am in an argument with my roommate that Puerto Ricans and Dominican Republicans eat burritos, tacos, etc. He says no they don't, it's not a staple of their cuisine, but I think so.

Whose right?

Why would you group those two countries together in the first place? The Dominican Republic was settled by the english, and has a cuisine that reflects their native/ spanish/ english heritage. Tacos and burritos are perhaps availible, but not necassarily common
Puerto Rico was settled by the spainerds, so they would have a similar Spanish cuisine to Mexico. But, the diet of burritos and tacos is not going to be nearly as common, due to the fact that burritos and tacos came about because Mexico has ample corn growing land. Puerto Rico is more tropical, and will have more fruit and other tropical foods be much more prevalent.
And to clear things up, tacos and burritos are not necassarily prevalent in Mexixo either. Does everyone in America eat only apple pie and meat loaf? I think not.

Everyone eats burritos and tacos.

Anyone who says they don't is lying.

I don't, never have. I have never even eaten at a Taco Bell before.

Just never eaten @ Taco Bell, or never eaten Mexican food?

Never eaten a taco or a burrito AND never eaten at Taco Bell.

:Q

Are you . . . RUSSIAN?

( . . . I got nothing.)

In Soviet Russia, taco eats YOU!!

First of all, the smell of any of that crap makes me want to puke. If I can't stand the smell, I'm not gonna bother eating it.

that one's too easy...anybody else wanna say it?

Is it the cilantro you don't like? I can't stand the smell or taste of that either, but I just order it without. Really, if you cut out that, 90% of mexican food is stuff you probably eat anyway, just prepared in a different way.

Yeah, I've been to PR several times (just went last month) and the historically native cuisine is similar. Creole/Carribean seafood, pork, chicken, mofongo, black beans, plantains, etc. Good stuff.

Yep..you got it. Thats what this puerto rican eats. Looks like the OP as well as many others think that Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Mexicans..etc.. are all the same. Sorry but there are no tacos and burritos in PR unless you go to some mexican restaurant (I'm sure there may be a few) or a Taco Bell (which I'm sure is there too). Also, all spanish speaking cultures are different in music, food, art and even language. Lots of words that a Puerto Rican use are not used by Dominicans, Mexicans..etc.

Its too bad they put every spanish speaker into one category (Latino/Hispanic) cause I dont have much in common with Mexicans or Dominicans. We are all very different I assure you.

...mmm.. I'm in the mood for tacos and burritos now..
