Do PS3s still come with composite cables?

I'm just wondering if I would need to buy the component cables separately if I bought a PS3.

Yes, but if you have components from your PS2(if you have one) they will work. I made that mistake, bought component cables when I bought my PS3 and later realized the components I had for my PS2 would have worked.

Yep. I imagine Monoprice has some cheap component cables, if you need 'em. Ditto for HDMI.

Damn that's a shame I never got component cables for my PS2 but those prices at monoprice are insane, 8$ for a component cable that also works for the Wii and 360.

Why are those prices so low though?

Also does anyone know where I can get deals on older games? The best price I've found for Motorstorm and Ninja Gaiden Sigma is 27.99 at Newegg but Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank (yeah ok they are not that old) are still $60 in most places.

Also is there a place where I can check pricing for PSN releases? Sony website appears to only have descriptions.

My 40gb came with composites. Thought I had to spend $40 for the components at BB and Futureshop. Luckily, I went to EB first and got it for $20. Still lame, but at least I "saved" $20.

im using the component cables from Monoprice (the three in 1 and the PS3 only) both exhibit banding that I did not see with DVI->HDMI but that might just be my monitor

I believe I read a review on Monoprice's website that said the Sony component cables did not have any issues (where as the person did notice something with the Monoprice cables).

Banding is pretty common with the PS3. It's possible you'll see it no matter which component cables you use.

You could always check the for sale forum here but for the most part PS3 games dont drop in price for a long time. Some release titles are still $60. I've been waiting for Heavenly Sword to drop forever.

Most original PSN releases are around $10 unless it is an actual PS3 or PSP game. A must have PSN original is PAIN.

Gamestop has a 25% off any used PS3 game coupon that's good 'til thursday. It stacks with 10% edge card too. Great deals

I ordered a 6' HDMI cable from monoprice for about $5 (along with a component cable for the Wii). The picture looks great and the quality of the cable seems fine (for both movie and PS3 gaming).

I really wanted to get Heavenly Sword also, but due to the feedback (game length) I didn't want to pay anywhere near $60. In fact, I refuse to pay $60 for any computer game and haven't paid more than $45 or $50 in memory.

Anyway, I got Heavenly Sword at Block Buster used for $35. Two different stores had it in my area (Syracuse NY) so I bet if you called around your area, you'd find a copy for that price. Some have suggested it will join the "greatest hits" series at some point and be priced at $29.95 but at $35 used at Block Buster, what the heck.

If you're searching for cables, monoprice is definitely the way to go. Their cables are no different than the "overpriced" ones. Big box retailers mark up the prices on their cables and "accessories" because they barely make a profit off of selling the big ticket items (tvs, game consoles, players). They gotta screw you somehow. That's why they always ask you "are you sure you don't need any of these cables?" NO! Shop smart.

This isn't quite true. Monster's stuff is indeed overpriced, but it's usually extremely high quality. It's just that only a vanishingly small number of people would even appreciate it or have an application that requires it. For the rest of us, there's Monoprice.

I'm sure Monster are real good, but most of us probably can't discern a difference between the picture quality from Monster and good quality monoprice cables for one tenth the price. I don't have the snob factor that I need them!
