DO ps3 wireless guitars work with ps2 GH's on the ps3

With the advent of GH metallica. ive been thrown back into the frenzy that is Guitar hero.
my gf already has about 5 gh's for ps2.. id rather not rebuy them

So question is, do the ps3 guitars work with the ps2 guitar hero's?

The PS3 guitars will only work with the PS3 GH games.

The PS2 guitars will not work on the PS3 period...as far as I know.

You cannot use a PS3 guitar to play a PS2 GH game on your PS3.

i still have a ps2.. but that just sux.

I think the main reason is that all of the 3rd party wireless stuff for the PS3 uses a "dongle", since Sony won't license out it's wireless controller technology.

So really (as always), Sony is to blame.

Sony's wireless technology is Bluetooth. Theoretically ANYONE should be able to make controllers for the PS3. Indeed, this is how some of the IR receivers (that support power-on) for the PS3 work - they simulate being a PS3 controller.

More likely is that the guitar manufacturers don't want to shell out for the Bluetooth licensing fees and compliance testing.

The bolded part is wrong. You can use PS2 guitars with a usb adapter (Text) to play guitar hero 1 and guitar hero 3 for PS2 on the PS3. You can't play guitar hero 2 or 80s edition though. You can also use that PS2 guitar on the PS3 to play any Rock Band or Guitar Hero game for the PS3.
