Do power supplies aid/inhibit cooling?

I was wondering if a PSU can, by itself, aid in cooling or make the computer hotter. Specifically speaking: I have a P.O.S power supply from englight (i think) and was thinkin about getting a better one due to it sucking gonads

it depends, it does heat up the computer, expecially if the fan blows inwards, if the fan blows outwards then it will slightly heat up the computer by 1-3 degrees if it is at full load,

If you take out the power supply, you won't have to worry about cooling! :D

y does your power supply suck?? not working, too loud, runs to hot??? I think they heat up your system somewhat, but i you have a correct cooling in your case, it shouldn;t really matter.

In a word YES!

I have one PC that was running exceptionally hot. The case temp was over 30C.
I replaced the power supply fan and case temp dropped 6C!
I have since replaced the power supply with a better unit and I have no heat issues with that system anymore.

Reach behind your computer and feel how hot the air excaping from your power supply is.
A more efficient power supply will generate less heat than a less efficient one. It also needs to be able to effectively remove the heat that it creates.

I like the power supply I picked up for my wife's computer. It is a 350W Forton with a single 120mm fan for heat removal. NewEgg sell em. I did have to modify her case a little bit though. The 120mm fan grill was making contact with a lip that is under the porer supply causing it to not fit flush. Once I removed the lip with my Dremel things were great.

omfg 6C that's crazy. my system temp is 30C at best, and my CPU temp is 40C at load. i'm gunna replace it with a better one

thx

Wow guys my system temps can hit around 35C i have 2 80mm fans in my Antec PSU so i don't think thats the issue, heat pours out the back of my rigs though, i guess my stuff just makes lotsa of heat.

it can affect cooling a little....when i switched from an enermax whisper to an antec true power, my case temps went up 1-2 degrees. but the antec was quieter, so that was the trade off. so depends on the fans in the ps.

Exactly the same setup as me (truepower 330). My system temps go from 31C-35C and my CPU temps from 47C-55C and I'm perfectly comfortable.
