Why can't we get good politicians who do the right thing? Everytime I go into P&N it's corruption this, corruption that, war this, war that, thousands die...

Why can't we just stop all this fighting and divert defense resources into R&D, like renewable resources (no longer tied to icky oil), stem cell research (benefits for those actually alive and conscious), education (the foundation of EVERYTHING), and others that don't involve sending 5.56mm rounds into each other? Let the Middle East murder themselves. They reap what they sow.

Lowering the deficit and the over debt would be good too.

I just feel like our "representatives" can't be really punished for anything, short of outright scandal or something. They have no obligation to deliver like businesses do. There are no quality standards.

All these politics is pushing me to either:

1. Get involved, but probably won't do any good
2. Completely detach myself from society. Let others wage war. Let other destroy the environment. Let others ruin other people's lives. As long as I'm not a part of it I'm ok. Just me, the here and now, go with the flow.

So you went to P&N, thought "Geez, this is terrible." Then tracked it on your shoe into ATOT?

LOL... you decry the modern state of politics then proceed to make inane politicalized statements...

This really should go in P&N with all of the other worthless posts.

No one is perfect.

This country is so divided on it's political parties it's just sad, there needs to be a new (serious) party or something else IMO.

Wait, I'm confused.

I decry the modern state of politics. That in itself is essentially making an "inane politicalized statement." Kinda like choosing not to choose is in itself choosing. Anyone who even decries anything is in essence crying for something.

To criticize me for making inane politicalized statements is like, "so what?" ANYONE who disagrees or argees with anything is by default making a statement. They don't then "proceed" to make one...

Why all the hate?

It was better back in the day???

I was using it just as an example in regards to QED's post.
What in gods name are you blathering on about?

Let me rephrase what I probably should have said in my above post: "For example, say that I decry the modern state of politics...." or "If I decry the modern state of politics...."

The point was simply to point out that making no statements is essentially making a statement at the same time.

I guess I'll just turn politics over into the very capable hands of our administration.

Yup yup. So I guess just don't worry about it? Things will be the same no matter whether I choose to get involved or not?

I'm not criticizing you or anything, just asking if this is how you lead your life.

There may be no difference-- except there currently is no rule against NOT posting a political thread on ATOT. There is, however, a rule against posting a political thread (such as this) on ATOT.

Your opinion is noble and valiant-- but it belongs in P&N with all of the other worthless posts.

As long as I have my camera, my car, a safe here and now, and money to live comfortably, I'm good :)
