Do people yawn while sleeping?

Isn't yawning supposed to be you're bodies way to increase your oxygen content in your blood. When you get tired you breath more shallow and end up yawning to make up for it.

Just another one of those things i learned from someone years ago and never investigated, guess ill add it to my action item list.

If thats the case then if you were not getting enough O2 in your sleep you would yawn.

When I woke up this morning, I couldn't stop yawning and this question just popped into mind.

if u yawned in your sleep that would just increase your chances of getting tea bagged, so i 'm gonna have to go with no you dont yawn while u sleep

i had a friend once who would pass gas loudly at every morning at exactly 7:30am...his roommate said it was the best alarm he ever had...

It's been shown that yawning is actually contagious. You are more likely to yawn if someone near you is also yawning.
