Do people still roll coins?

I think I used to go to the grocery store with my parents and they made us write our names and phone numbers on the rolls for some stupid reason.

Coin Star probably charges 25% by now... do banks have the machines or do I still need to roll em up?

I rolled up a bunch of coins once, went to the bank and they said they had to have them loose. So, next time I go... guess what? They wanted them rolled.

Very few banks even have coin counters any longer, at least ones consumers can use. When I was still with Wells Fargo, they made me bag it and 'send it downtown,' which took about 10 days to get the funds put into my account.

The bank I'm with now... the entire reason I went with them was because they have a no-charge counter in the lobby. They rule.

Last I checked the CoinStar machine was at 8.9% They have some deal with PayPal, but I don't know about the fees, etc.

I spend my coins as I get them. Paying to transport them around town, and the personal hassle makes them not worth saving.

My bank has a coin machine in the lobby that prints out a slip and they deposit the amount into your account.

use your debit card more -> less coins
bury coins in the earth -> you'll have money/metal after the Apocalypse
use coinstar -> pay fee

I got $39 once. I'm about ready to take in another bag.

I got like $110 last week. Huge bag. Like three months worth of change :D Found a 1960 silver quarter in the mix too. Coinstar didn't want it. I think it's worth like $10. Win-win.

TDBank has a coin counter in their lobbies, free if you have an account there. Probably some kind of fee if you do not. The coinstars are fee free if you get a GC like Amazon.

I haven't used cash for a single thing in at least a year. I've probably used cash less than 5 times in the last 3 years. No more coins for me.

The only time I use cash is to pay back coworkers when they bring me lunch at work.

CoinStar + Amazon GC = 0% fees = win

This can work well. Find a coin counting machine that is convenient for you and look them up online to see if they issue gift cards to anywhere you frequent for no additional fees.

People still use physical currency?

Outside of the 1 bill I pay online and 1 that requires auto pay, I only use paper money. I get much better deals at cash only places so there's no reason for me to use plastic.

I roll them (except cents) and sell them to the cafeteria manager at work. Cents go to the Coinstar (zero fee for Lowe's giftcard). My credit union has free coin counters but I never need to go to the branch.

TD is free for anyone I believe. I've gone and I don't have an account. Almost positive they don't charge any fee.

I have a credit union and they have customer coinstar like machines for free usage with no fee. Just dump in the coins and when you're done it spits out a paper you bring to the counter than they give you the cash or you can just have it added to your account.

I have caught more than once though with the coinstar like machines that it shorts you what you put in. In one instance it didn't count $15 worth of coins. Just straight up stole $15 from me and there's no way for me to prove it to them.
