Do people of other languages really speak faster?

For example I tend to notice that people speaking Spanish seem to put out a lot more syllables per minute than people speaking English do..is this really how it is, or just how I perceive it because I don't understand it?

english is just super efficient at saying what needs to be said and that is why this sentence that I'm articulating is so perfectly short and sweet.

spanish has more ways to say "the" than i cared for, once they told me that, i quit bothering with the silly language

that and the sound is very unpleasant to my ears.

English may be an ok language for daily usage, however it's horrible for science. Very incapable of mathematical expressions as well.

english is quick and easy but not precise.

in korean for eg, there are 5 different words for uncle, each word tells your precisely what the relationship between the child and uncle is, mothers brothers, fathers older brother, fathers younger brother, mothers brother in law, fathers brother in law.

in english you say, oh he's my uncle, then if the other party asks, you have to say, my uncle on my mothers side . . .

in korean, the one word has already told you which uncle.

I don't know. I'm from the south, so pretty much everyone talks faster than we do.
