I share a wall at work with a guy that is from New Delhi. He is a really nice guy and is great at his job, but I have noticed that he takes and makes a LOT of phone calls during the day. It is extremely rare that these are in English as well. I would guess that it is anywhere between one and two dozen phone calls that I hear in a day, and maybe one of them is in English.

Is this a thing? Or is this guy just a bit unusual?

It's a new twist on outsourcing tech support to India without having to pay for the overseas call.

Welcome to America!

Where you get paid to come to work, but you don't actually have to do work while there!

It's a wonderful country!

All the Indian people I work with don't spend time on the phone. I guess my company only hires (or retains) people who don't waste time on social calls, regardless of race.
