Do people actually like the taste of coffee?

I've tried many different types of coffee: straight black, Americano, latte, etc. They all taste bad. Its not even an acquired taste, it is just bad.

Do people only drink it for the caffeine?

no. The billions of coffee drinkers just do it to punish themselves.

ps my morning coffee is 700cc

I can't stand coffee either, but to each their own. In my 39 years I've had a grand total of about a half a cup total.

It's hard to say. I think I like the way it tastes, but I'm also pretty sure I need it just to feel normal in the morning.

Wait, what are we talking about?

for non coffee drinker... should start with cream and sugar. not black. black coffee only good for gurus and hardcore drinker. they know the difference in taste of each coffee. when casual/non coffee drinker they dont know the taste differences when drink good quality black coffee to cheap quality black coffee. but most night shift and truckers dont care quality only want caffein to stay awake.

if i want to stay awake i drink cold coffee or any cold drinks. i drink hot coffee to chill. surf cnn and bbc sipping on coffee. relax.

I prefer and drink black tea instead (with milk). While I do like the taste (of my tea) as well as having something to sip, at the caffeine probably increases my consumption (if nothing else it makes you more thirsty since it's diuretic).

I'm partial to strong dark roasts, black. I usually don't like any sweetness, cream or flavoring. That's usually the deal breaker for me (unless I REALLY need the caffeine and that is all that's available)

There are a lot of poor excuses for coffee out there. I'm not a coffee snob, but what you get from Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, gas stations and convenience stores are a bad way to judge coffee as a whole. Usually they're bitter, burnt-tasting, or so sugared-up that it masks the coffee flavor entirely.

I'm not a huge fan of Starbucks, but I got a 2oz espresso from them while I was up in VT on vacation, and it was pretty decent. It's strong (of course), but surprisingly not as horribly bitter as their regular brew.

Oddly enough, in college, one of the cafeterias had a Maxwell House coffee machine that made cappuccinos. They always came out amazing, except for the time it tried to give me a large when I selected medium, and pissed coffee all over the place...

I've been drinking coffee since I was about 10, and my daughter is the same. We both love it.

I like the taste of community dark roast coffee. For me was the definition of an acquired taste though. Didn't like it at first, but drank it for the caffeine and eventually it grew on me. I drink mine black BTW.

At work I drink what they provide free.
I am not sure there is a way to mask how horrible it is, and looking online it's ridiculously expensive for what it is.

I love it, the flavor is delicious. I can't understand why people mix a bunch of shit into it. I feel the same way about liquor too though.

I have drank coffee since I was 17. I also know alot of people "now in their 30's" that drank it young. And I myself absolutely think the bitterness of coffee tastes great.

I dont think age has much to do with it. It definitely is a aquired taste though.

With enough sugar... Yes.

Otherwise, black coffee is "interesting" and I wouldn't mind decaf (actually, I only do decaf now)... Compare to hard liquor that tastes like ass to me regardless and is only a vehicle to drunkeness - no drunky, no drinky.

I like the taste if I cut the slight bitterness with milk. Speaking of which, I need to refill my oversized cup :)

When having breakfast, i enjoy a coffee (cappuccino preferred, otherwise plane black coffee without sugar and without milk) the most but only while consuming my startup food : Orange juice or some fresh made fruit juice mix such as for example a strawberry and orange mix. While drinking fruit juice, i eat my banana and i take a sip of coffee in between munching. That is for me one of the many ways to come close to having a moment of heavenly bliss. Makes life worth the while.
