Do people actually consider 20/20 to be competent investigative journalism?

Last night they had this little 10 minute piece on meal replacements and the industry. They said it was a multi-billion/year enterprise. They then had various taste testers, taking from the public and some people at some elite snobby gym in new york. All of them hated all of the foods. So, 20/20 idiotically concluded that all of these meal replacement bars/drinks taste like crap. Well, that doesn't really vibe with their earlier figure on billions year/spent, does it? BTW, I've tried a lot of them, and a lot of them do taste good, as anybody who's tried a lot of them can vouch for. No, not chocolate bar good, but not "Do I have to swallow this?"-bad, which is what one of their testers responded with.

Finally they had this dumb expert on there who said that ultimately a shake from a cafe with a multi-vitamin would be about as good as an MR shake. They showed a picture of a 1000 (?) calorie shake wth a horse pill next to it. Of course if you look at an MR shake you see that they have about 1/4 that number of calories, and more protein than some crap you buy in a diner, so comparing it is like comparing comfortable jog to an ironman triathalon.

Sure I'm bitching, but there wasn't a single redeeming quality about this thing last night. I don't even know why they had the segment. The woman doing the "reporting" had plenty of sour faces and shocked reactions to all of the crap her moron experts and testers expressed.

Did you notice that too? Basically, it was a biased article to put into peoples minds that diet suppliments DO NOT WORK. What a crock!

BTW- I drink a low carb Slim Fast for breakfast every morning. They really improved the taste of them (they're actually pretty darn good!), it's filling, and it's a quick way to get a meal.

no, I do not consider it investigative journalism.

It is a hair above "entertainment tonight" in substance and purpose.
