Do PC Gaming / Hardware enthusiast meetup groups exist anymore?

Seems like LAN parties have died out and there is no such thing as computer groups anymore. I can find plenty of Apple user groups though... blech!

I hear where you're coming from. Once the old high school LAN dies out, it's hard to replace it, and no one around where I'm going to grad school (Stillwater, OK) seems into it. Goddamn kids and their goddamn rock and roll...

There are LAN parties out there...it seems to be more of a regional thing. Depends on if you're in the right area for LAN parties and whatnot.

I've seen this site a few times, just for kicks. As you can see there's not much in the Mid-West, compared to NYC or even Georgia for that matter.

I can find LUGs (Linux User Groups) still. 😛

Check meetup.com and Craigslist.

For LAN parties, there are sites which list them, but not all are listed. Basically you have to really look for them, but once you find them (and make friends) you will start to find others or be invited to others. For instance when I first moved to Wisconsin I couldn't find any LAN parties at all. Now I go to them all the time. The past four LAN parties I went to were private invite-only events and were not listed anywhere. You just have to get your foot in the door. The likeliest next two events I go to are larger, public events.

If you live in IL or WI, PM me and I can get you started because I'm pretty up to date with all the public events/groups in these states.
