Do parts of threads disappear, or am I senile?

There have been a few threads which I subscribed to, and have been checking just to see the status of them and whatnot in which I could have sworn I posted something, but I don't see my responses. I know that Mods reserve the rights to delete postings, but I thought that if a post is deleted it is because it is inappropriate, and the member is warned once, and then kicked off if the offense happens again. I don't think my posts have been "bad" or malicious in any way, then again my standards may not be as strict as others. I have never recieved a warning (not that I know of) so I am very confused. I am fairly young and I hope senility isn't already kicking in...

I vote for senility ;)

Is there a chance you didnt click post message or you closed the window while it was processing? I have closed the window on a "proccessing/posting" message and lost a post. You are talking about the post right and not a thread? I was under the impression that only threads could be deleted and any change of posts had to be done by editing. I, of course, could be wrong but thats how most BB mod controls work. There is a chance the DB didnt recieve your post sent.

-just a few thoughts

The moderators can delete individual posts from a thread (I've seen it happen before when a normally good thread was spoiled by one troll; instead of locking or deleting the thread, they just deleted most of the troll's posts, leaving only one in which to give him the notice that he'd been banned). I guess it's a feature of Fusetalk, but since I've never seen the administrative side of the software, I have no idea.

Rav3n, could you give us an idea about what kind of topics these posts are on? Perhaps that could shed some light on why they might [possibly] be deleted. Still, if this has been happening for some time, I don't see why they'd keep deleting your posts without at least sending you a PM as a warning. Of course, it could be senility, or a server error, but I highly doubt it's the latter.

Hmm... I dunno... maybe I am just senile - it runs in the family I guess. I tend to post in the Technical Support section just advice from working with computers over the years. I have worked with computers for about 12 years now and have seen a large number of things, just from my own exploring/deleting/modifying files on my old computers :) so I try to share my knowledge - but I also like to read other people's posts on info and stuff, I hope to pick up general info. Sometimes I intend to post and then don't... maybe I am just not remembering whether or not I actually did... oh well. I guess I just wanted to know if this was a common thing (apparently not) that mod's did, or if it was ::clears throat and swallows pride:: user error... Thanks for the input!

This thread can be deleted - or, maybe it should stay up just for my sanity... hehe

I haven't seen alot of your posts rav3n but I have seen a few. They were all helpful and informative so I doubt yours were deleted.

anothervote for senility ;)

don't worry I do it all the time mainly cuz I usually pretye my messages in notepad. Had way to many long replies go into the crapper after I pushed back by mistake. :p

I had a post deleted from a thread... one that would have turned that thread into neffest. I didn't realize it when I posted but when it was deleted it dawned on me. I thought I was going senile and forgot to hit send or something, but, someone had already replied to my post before it was deleted so I knew it wasn't me.

And I didn't actually post something 'banned' so I wasn't warned, nor was there any notice given. But, in retrospect it was pretty obvious it would have turned ugly had it stayed in the thread.

(For the curious, it was a thread about what people do in the forums that annoys you, and I posted about quoting too much. Was a month or two or so ago.)

IF you are talking about the "war" threads, yes - posts are sometimes edited and deleted by mods without comment.

They give more "slack" in the replies due to extreme emotionalism then say OT.

I have stayed away from the war posts - I wouldn't want to even think thoughts that would make me say stuff I might regret in light of this forum. I guess the situation dman mentioned is possible - meh, not a big deal.

I know exactly what you mean . . . I had to drop out of being a regular "contributer" as my blood pressure actually rose TWENTY POINTS . :p

Anyway the mods are cutting (too much, IMO) "slack" to the posters there.

I had a post deleted, and i don't even know why... it was a link to a video, and not anything obscene either.

In that case, maybe we are all just a little senile, and I don't feel as bad :)
