I have a HP Deskjet 722c parallel printer that I would like to convert to my USB port. Office Max has a converter for $59.00. Do these converters work satisfactorily or are they more problem than they are worth? Any body have any experiences with these converters?

From what I have seen and read the USB to Parallel converters are not worth it. Also just so you know the 722 is a host-based printer and you could run into a lot of problems trying to get it to work. You might just want to look into getting a 930 or 950 DeskJet. The 930 and 950 have a far superior print engine.

You have to make sure the cable is compatible to your printer.. I had two different ones and niether would work with my Lexmark or my epson laser printer.. I sold both of them to people who got them to work with thier printers just fine. You can find them used or slightly used for as little as 15 bucks if you scout around.. :)

hey that's interesting. i never knew such a converter exists. how does it work? i suppose the transfer rate is the normal parallel rate instead of the faster usb rate?
