Do Palomina and P4 need new mobos too?

P4 is its own socket - not Socket 370, nor slot - it uses a 423 pin socket, and later a 478 pin socket. The two won't be physically compatible :(.

Palomino uses standard "socket A".

now that you mention it, it's a pretty good question.
well, since the palomino will soon be manufactured with .13 micron process, it makes sense that it's gonna ve using a new type of socket since there could be a differenct pincount. but, of course, thisis just a thought.

It's good to know these things. So I think it is reasonable to pass Sockets A and 370 and wait till these beauties go to masses (come available and cost not so much).
(Now having K6-2 400@523, plenty of HDD, 128Mb RAM and 32 Mb ATI XPert200)

By the time those beautities drop in price and come to the masses, there's going to be something even faster to wait for. Give up and buy.
