do P4's need to stay cooler than Athlon XPs?

Just got a 400SC, and this is my first experience with an Intel CPU. My last one was a thoroughbred-B and the 400SC I have now is a P4 2.4C.

On my old thoroughbred-B, I could let it get up above 50C all the time with no trouble (if I wasn't OCing). but I've heard somewhere that P4's don't handle high temps as well. Is there any truth to this?

What temp do I need to keep my 2.4C under if I'm not OCing it whatsoever?

Northwood max is 69deg C
recommend stay under 50 at load
recommend stay under 40 at idle
