Do other men hold women to higher standards than them?

I think that women should be held to a higher standard when it comes to etiquette. IMHO, while it is tolerable for a guy to fart, curse, pick his nose, or do other disgusting things in the company of others, I would find it unacceptable for women to do the same. My girlfriend (who doesn't do any of these things before others) and my friends disagree, saying that men and women are the same and are just as eligible to be disgusting in front of others. This all came about when a girl farted in front of me and others. Nobody said anything, but I petrified at what had just happened.

You're livin in the past my friend! I'd rather my woman be "real" and not uptight and ladylike. If she's in good company with the guys, it doesn't matter that she's a woman. I mean there's occasions where you'd want your woman to be the perfect lady, but if you're by her side at such a time, it'd be equally inappropriate for you to fart or belch as well. Such as weddings, fancy operas, etc...

You chauvinist ninny. :p

I'm definitely turned off when I see women do the disgusting things you describe, but I don't think we should be holding anyone to a higher standard.

The ladies can do what they want as far as I'm concerned and if that drives some people away from them so be it.

I'm certainly not going to enforce some "code of etiquette" on them based on what "I" think is the proper conduct for a woman.

I don't like it when other guys fart or pick their noses either. Equal standards still apply.
