Aside, does anyone have a link to another source of that Beethoven (i think...) the BBC was handing out free a while back?
 
Yes. A musical recording is subject to two different copyrights: the copyright on the composition and the copyright on the performance. These are not necessarily held by the same person or entity, which does make music licensing a complex issue.
